Online Return Policy

Textbooks have their own unique return policy, listed below.

Made-to-order items also have a unique return policy, listed below, and are exempt from University Book Store’s standard return policy.

Customers can return general merchandise purchased from University Book Store or ubookstore.com for a refund within 30 days of purchase with receipt as long as the products are still in saleable condition. All mask sales are final. Without a receipt, items can be returned for store credit only, at the discretion of department supervisors. Purchases made with a credit voucher or gift card can only be returned for store credit.

All sale or discounted items are final sale. If you're unsure if any item is final sale, please feel free to ask a staff member or a bookseller for clarification before making your purchase.

All refunds are processed on the same day and funds will be posted back to your bank account between 3–5 business days, depending on your bank.

  • In-store: Customers can return items during business hours at our Textbooks Information desk, located on the second floor of our U District store.

  • Returns & Exchanges by Mail: Return shipping is at-cost to customer. Please package your items in original condition with your completed Customer Return Form (this is attached to the shipping label of your order) in a sturdy box that includes your receipt and customer return form, addressed to:

    If you don’t have your customer return form, please include a note that displays your name and your order number (this begins with SO and be followed by a series of digits. You can find this in your email receipt).

    If you wish to make an exchange by mail, please include a note on your customer return form about what item, color, or size you would like to exchange for. If a customer wishes to exchange for an item of greater value, please include your contact information so we can contact you and charge you the difference. If a customer is exchanging for an item of lesser value, the difference will be refunded to the original payment method. Once your return has been received, we will send out the exchanged item provided we still have the item in stock.

During the exchange process, you may receive a credit memo from us. This is simply a receipt acknowledging your return and means that our team is processing your exchange.

Made-to-order items ship out directly from the vendors and are only available for purchase at ubookstore.com. All made-to-order items will have an additional message above the price informing you that it is made-to-order, as well as additional information in the product description. Made-to-order items are exempt from the Pack Rewards discount.

Please allow 10–14 business days for these items to be shipped to you. We only offer domestic shipping on made-to-order products. You will receive a second shipping notification from University Book Store with tracking info for your made-to-order product.

All made-to-order purchases are non-returnable or exchangeable, and University Book Store is unable to accommodate cancellations once an order is placed. If you receive defective merchandise, or are sent the wrong item(s), please contact us at huskyweb@ubookstore.com

Receipts are required for all refunds. Textbooks must be in purchased condition for a full refund. Un-activated eBooks and rental fees are refundable under the same timelines as textbook purchases.

If you drop/withdraw from a class you can return your book within 14 days after the start of classes (full term courses only). A Proof of drop/withdrawal is required at the time of return. This excludes Rented digital textbooks.

Our goal is to ensure that all students have access to textbooks in a timely manner so we're unable to make exceptions to these return periods.

Spring 2022

  • Digital: Monday, April 4
  • Physical Textbooks: Monday, April 11

Digital textbooks can be returned for a full refund within 7 days of the start of classes.

If you drop/withdraw from a class, you can return your eBook within 14 days after the start of classes (full term courses only). A Proof of drop/withdrawal is required at the time of return.

Customers can also return their textbooks by mail. Return shipping is at-cost to customer and must be post-marked by the term’s refund deadline in order to qualify for a refund.

If returning your textbooks via mail, please pack the products you wish to return, along with your completed Customer Return Form (attached to the shipping label of your online order), in a sturdy box or mailing envelope, addressed to the following:

Customers can exchange their textbooks at our U District store at the Returns & Buyback Counter on the second floor through the current quarter’s refund deadlines (listed above).

We currently do not offer an exchange policy for online orders. If you are unable to return your textbooks to our U District store, please follow the return by mail instructions above and place a new order for the textbooks you need. We highly encourage customers to order their new course materials before their return has been processed to ensure your new textbooks arrive in time for the quarter.

Please note that return shipping is at-cost to customer; when shipping books, we encourage customers to use media mail for best rates.

Buyback services are available at our U District store only during finals week and the first week of the quarter. Online buyback services are always available.

  • I received the wrong item(s): We’re sorry! We want to get you the correct item(s) as soon as possible. Please have your order number and contact our Web Order Team directly.
  • My order never came in the mail: If you believe that the shipping courier has misplaced your order, please contact our Shipping Department at 800-335-7323, ext. 324. They will contact the courier for a call tag to track down your order. All orders that returned to sender will be refunded, minus the shipping fee. You will be notified by email if this occurs.
